Meeting 1 · Monday 30 November 2026 · Central Camp, Prague
Build.
Code.
Race.
Build a brick car, program its micro:bit and race it. For everyone from 9 to 99.
No. 01 · Wukong mecanum racer
Three cars for the challenge
Every car is bricks on a board with a micro:bit. Turn it in 3D, build it step by step and get its parts list; one joystick drives them all.
Wukong mecanum racer
Mecanum wheels on an ElecFreaks Wukong board: it drives, spins on the spot and, with the phone's second stick, slides sideways.

Building:bit tank
Tracks on a Yahboom Building:bit board: it turns by driving one track against the other and climbs where wheels slip.

Steering car
Steers like a real car: a servo turns the front wheels, two motors drive the rear ones. The further you push, the more it turns.
3D model and steps →How they steer
A board is what the motors plug into. Today our machines use a micro:bit on an ElecFreaks Wukong or a Yahboom Building:bit board; LEGO's own hubs and BuWizz are next.
Three disciplines
Winter races at Central Camp
The first meeting is on Monday 30 November at Central Camp, Prague, then one in January and one in February: we will announce their dates. Three sessions, three machines: each one is built, programmed and then raced. The rules are short: drive with the micro:bit joystick and use the car modules we hand out. Everything else is up to you.
From the screen to the track
The Wukong cars are open: their models, the builder that makes the booklets and Studio files, and their firmware are on GitHub.
BrickLink Studio
Every car is also a file for BrickLink Studio: the model with its building steps and its electronics as parts. Change it, or make your own instructions.
Models and Studio files →
MakeCode
Each car's driver opens in blocks in our MakeCode editor: set its speed and its motors' directions at the top, then download it to the micro:bit.
Open the editor →
The phone joystick
Open it in Chrome on Android, or in Bluefy on an iPhone, and connect over Bluetooth: the first stick drives and turns, the second slides the mecanum racer sideways.
Open the joystick →How to start
- LAP 1Build your car: 3D models and building steps, a parts list for each and a file for BrickLink Studio.
- LAP 2Program it in our MakeCode editor: the Brick Race row on its home page has a driver for every car.
- LAP 3Drive it from a phone at makecode-microbit.geekedu.eu/joystick (Chrome on Android, Bluefy on iPhone). The further you push, the faster it goes.
- LAP 4Race: hill climb, sprint and three laps.
Step-by-step activities for classes and clubs are in the Brick Race unit on GeekEdu.
Where to buy the parts
The electronics and kits we race with are sold by the Czech shop HWKitchen:

- Geekservo 9g 360°: the mecanum racer's small motors
- BBC micro:bit V2.21: one for every machine
Bricks for your own changes: BrickLink, with each model's parts list.
